TOURIST ACTIVITIES AND DESTINATIONS

Yercaud Lake: The Yercaud Lake is a picturesque pool surrounded by gardens and beautiful trees. The garden surrounding the lake is well groomed and best seen during the month of May when the Summer Festival is organized. A pool surrounded by gardens and well-wooded trees.

Lady's Seat: One of the best views that Yercaud promises. You can enjoy the panoramic view of the ghats and all the distant vehicles dwindling their way in and out of trees along the winding ghat road. It surely is a breath-taking view. You can have a closer view of the plains below with the help of the telescope mounted at the Lady's Seat. This view is spectacular at night with the twinkling lights of Salem town in sight. It gives a feeling of looking over a bed of twinkling diamonds and if you are lucky to have a moonlit night nothing could be more romantic. Tourists can have a panoramic view of the plains below through the telescope mounted at the Lady's seat.

Killiyur Falls: Kiliyur Falls is a 90-feet high waterfall situated amidst picturesque surroundings of Yercaud. Akasagangai waterfall is in Kolli hills which is known for medical herbs and plants.

The Servaroyan Temple: Situated atop Servaroyan hill, the annual festival of Lord Servaroyan is celebrated in May every year. The temple is a narrow and dark cave having the God Servarayan and the Goddess Kaveri inside, which are believed as the deities of the Shevaroy Hills and Cauvery River.

Bear’s Cave: It is situated near the Norton Bungalow on the way to Servaroyan Temple. A huge cave formation beside a fantastic bungalow that was supposed to play home for the bears. It is an important tourist spot worth the visit.

Green House: The greenhouse cultivates many varieties of flowers and spices.

The Grange: The Grange is one of the oldest buildings in Yercaud, built in 1820's by the then District Collector of Salem, M.D. Cockburn who first introduced Coffee from Arabia and Apples and other fruits from South Africa between 1820 and 1829. It is believed to have been the summer resort of Robert Clive, general of the East India Company in the late 19th century.

Pagoda Point: This is also another vantage viewpoint. Once upon a time a beautiful place adorned with stone built pagodas, it is now home to a huge temple. The neighborhood is splashed with erratic buildings that are a real turn off. Yet, if you haven’t been there, don’t miss it. The best time to visit it is during the night or early morning. It gives you a totally unique view of Salem and a voyeur's view over the little village called Kakambadi. The cliff on the opposite side is fabulous and any rock climber wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation to scale them.

Silk Farm and Rose Garden: Situated very close to Lady's Seat, Silkworms are reared here. Located 2 km from Yercaud town, tourists can see the cultivation of mulberries, growing of silk worms, and methods of silk-spinning. The rose garden has a collection of varieties of roses. There is a nursery in this garden which sells plants.

Trekking in Yercaud: Yercaud has developed into a major trekking destination in the region. Many treks are organized here. Chennai Trekking Club organizes treks in Yercaud.

Fairholme Bungalow: Fairholme Bungalow is one of the old heritage colonial bungalows on Tipperary road. A Miss Pope sold it to the present owners, who converted it into a heritage hotel. It is furnished with antique furniture and fireplaces.

Heaven's Ledge: A Scenic west-facing cliff situated in Gowri Estate in Yercaud.It has been converted into a campsite to encourage sustainable tourism. It is 15 kms away from the main town area.

Anna Park:Anna Park is a lovely garden near the lake. Lake Park, Gandhi Park & Children Park are the other parks to be visited in Yercaud.

The Monfort School & the Sacred Heart Convent:These are the two famous educational institutions at Yercaud imparting education to boys and girls respectively.

Other Places of Interest:Ornamental plants at Green House, Orchard cum Nursery of Rose plants, Silk farm, Arthur Seat, Horticulture Research Station, Orchiderium, Mettur View (on Nagalur Road), Cauvery Peak, Salem View (between 16th and 17th bends) are other places of interest.
